About
Dear Friend,
While counseling is in no way a miraculous or immediate cure-all, I do believe it can be an important path to mental wellness and holistic health. The beauty of your uniqueness, development of your gifts and celebration of your free-will lives in the space between input and response. Sadly, life can often refuse us the safety or time we need for that reflection.
My goal for Longmont Counseling Center is to balance authentic, grounded therapeutic practice with space for your unique experience. We look forward to supporting your resilience and healing.
Mary Ellen Carlson, MA, LPC
Owner/Founder of Longmont Counseling Center
Mary Ellen sees herself as a student of life. Free time will find her exploring trails, recipes, stories and art. Her experiences living on several continents and enjoying the journey of culture adds to her appreciation for both the variety and commonality of human experience. With over fifteen years of combined professional experience she draws from private practice work with ages 4+, medication management and solution-focused intervention in the primary care setting, in-school leadership and mentoring for teens, as well as clinical supervision for Masters level interns all across the greater Denver area. She has seven years specialized experience supporting children and adult survivors of childhood abuse, with focus on rebuilding attachment and life skills impacted by developmental trauma.
Julia Johnson
Hey there!
I am, first and foremost, a book nerd. I am constantly reading books spanning all genres, which I believe opens my perspective to so many different types of people and ways of living. I love digging deeper into mental health issues but I also thoroughly enjoy true crime and romance. I adore seeing mental health being represented in bestsellers, and for the most part, they are representing the counseling field in a positive light. I am a mom to humans and furr babies, and enjoy several “grandma” hobbies.
“We felt heard and saw change after just a few sessions. It was clear that she understood the problem and had suggestions on how we could approach solving it.”
